Ecco il loro racconto
On March 6th we flew to Malta and we got there just after a couple of hours. We stayed in St Julian, which is a district of Valletta, in a hotel close to the beach. St Julian is very lively, especially in the evenings. It was a significant educational experience, where we had the opportunity to improve our language skills at Clubclass, a school with mother tongue teachers who use a peculiar yet effective method. Our lessons were in the afternoon and they weren’t boring at all. Our task was to develop a business created by ourselves and then present it to the class, trying to convince them to invest in our project and create new job opportunities. We also learnt a lot of work-related vocabulary and improved our fluency. In the mornings, instead, we visited various places, such as Farsons Brewery, where beer and other beverages are produced; Limestone Heritage, a museum on the site of an old quarry where limestone was extracted; and the EcoHive Academy, where they showed us how rubbish is collected and sorted to produce electricity. We also had the opportunity to enjoy Malta’s interesting and diverse landscapes, like the Dingli Cliffs, the amazing Blue Grotto and the island of Gozo, which is a small island north of Malta that we reached by ferry. Here, we learnt something more about Maltese culture and crafts, such as cork-made bags and book covers. Finally, we got the chance to visit beautiful historical places around Malta, such as the oldest part of Valletta, with its churches and typical houses, and the Mdina, with its fortifications. We came back home after two weeks. The experience was over but its memory will stay with us forever.
